![Social media helped reunite lost dog with owner]()
This is Lincolnshire -- Social media helped a lost dog to be reuinited with his owner. A passer-by found the small black and white dog wandering in Trinity Street, Gainsborough, on Friday morning, and brought him into the council's Guildhall offices. Staff took a photo of the dog and posted an appeal on Facebook. Within half an hour the post had been shared more than 40 times and, more importantly, the owner had been found. Customer services advisor, Sheron Clixby, said: "The owner saw the photo of the dog on Facebook and called us to confirm the dog's markings before collecting him. "We're really pleased to have had such a good response and to have found the dog's owner. "It's a really positive example of how social media can be used." The Facebook post had been viewed more than 2,500 times within five hours on Friday. Mrs Clixby advised owners to get their dogs micro-chipped. She said: "We do scan dogs for microchips so we can reunite them with owners quickly and easily, and without cost to the owner. "If we have to take a dog to kennels there are fees to pay. "If you move house or change your details, don't forget to keep the chip up-to-date. "We also advise people to include a tag on their dog's collar."
